HDPE is a great all-purpose material that exhibits a nice combination of rigidity, impact strength, wear resistance, and low moisture absorption. This material also has a low coefficient of friction, meaning it is inherently slick on the surface. HDPE is a great choice for this application because surface slickness is critical in achieving the correct mold release. A nice long finish pass on the inside radius is what produces the glossy smooth interior finish.
